tumblr was interesting for a while because it updated in real time, revealing the collective brain of what felt like a very young mind, reveling-- playing, frolicking-- in the subtle antics of collectivity for the very first time. but, as users became increasingly obsessed with the popularity of their own blogs and increasingly aware of how intently they are watched by their peers, the content on tumblr has sadly become too homogeneous to endure.
